Coca Cola Bing Cherry Salad Or Dessert?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to locate the dessert or salad called Coca Cola Bing Cherry Dessert. This was a family recipe from the 1960s, but we lost it. I know it was made with a regular sugar Coke and a can of bing cherries. I believe it also had red jello in it and perhaps other fruits. maybe apples. Any help is appreciated. Perhaps I am not using the correct name for it.

This is definitely a favorite from the 50s-60s. There are lots of variations on this recipe, but here's a good version:

1 can (12 ounces) Coca Cola (not diet)

1 can (16.5 ounces) pitted Bing cherries

1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple with juice

1 package (6 ounces) black cherry Jell-O

1 cup chopped pecans

Drain pineapple. Drain the cherries and save their juice. In a saucepan combine the reserved cherry juice with the coke. Heat until boiling then stir in the gelatin. Mix until gelatin is dissolved.

Remove from the heat and stir in the drained pineapple, drained cherries and chopped pecans. Pour mixture into a mold sprayed with nonstick cooking spray and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving. Makes 10 servings.
