Vintage Fiestaware

Recommended Posts

I am new to this forum. I am looking for help identifying 6 cups that I was gifted.

My mother-in-law gave me 6 vintage Fiestaware cups that belonged to her mother who lived in Missoula MT. I believe all the cups are Fiestaware because of the distinctive clay ring on the bottom, the rings in the handle and the beautiful colors. These cups are not heavy like my newer pieces. I think they have a very light feel to them. The colors I recieved are orange, yellow, dark blue perhaps cobalt, 2 light green and 2 light blue perhaps turquoise. One of the blue cups has a rough finish where you typically find the stamp. The finish or glaze is smooth or glossy but it feels like the clay may have tiny little bumps in it.

Should I be afraid to use these cups? If one breaks will I regret using it? Do you have an estimated value? Are there any concerns about lead poisoning? I guess they shouldn't go in the dishwasher? I have other cups that must have lead because when I put one in the microwave the cup got really super hot. I probably don't want to use the cups in the microwave? Any other bits of wisdom would be appreciated.
