Synar Pottery

Recommended Posts

My question is about a small Synar water bowl and pitcher set, brown in color, stamped Synar 30 on the pitcher and no marking on the bowl. The texture is a rough bubble/ broken bubble design - saw where is might be called 'Lava rock' ?? I have pictures if that would help. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Thank you!!

Synar was started by Elizabeth Taylor (not THAT Elizabeth Taylor) in Muskogee in the 40's and did fairly well for a number of years. Due to personal problems, the owner had to sell the business to John Frank in 1958. He ran it as Synar for a year and then changed the name to Gracetone.

Other than the little bit I know about the history, I don't know much about Synar, but a picture would be helpful in case someone is more knowledgeable than I.
