Shiela E. in Southlake, Texas emailed us with the question, "What is the difference in color between the old (vintage) rose Fiesta and the Post86 Fiesta?" Rose was one of vintage Fiesta's "50's colors", and it has a brown tint. The newer rose glaze is a lovely pastel which is can be distinguished from the earlier variety in that it is heavier and thicker, since modern Fiesta is vitrified china. Here is a photo comparing the two glazes, Post86 rose tumbler on the left and vintage rose cup and saucer on the right.
Who else misses Rose Fiesta? This Summer while taking photographs of food from TexasCooking.com recipes, I got some good use from my large pizza tray. What do you think? We made some almond icebox cookies and turned it into a cookie tray: Don't forget the rose Fiesta butterdish!
